Food, if it doesn't taste good, why eat it?!
Food, if it doesn't taste good, why eat it?! Once my family figured out a trick, or two on how they could get me to eat, there was no stopping them from doing what they could. What kind of tricks did they have you ask? TACOS, McDonald's FRIES specifically and DESERTS Baby!! I was considered the human vacuum as a kid when it came to anything that resembled cheesecake, ice cream, pie or chocolate. You name it with deserts! But anything nutritious, or that resembled real food (unless it was tacos) you could forget it! Wait, doesn't calcium count in there somewhere? Antioxidants in Chocolate? There is protein in eggs you know, eggs go in to most deserts....not really. What happened next kind of bewildered my family, but was not shocking. Someone who goes from anorexia to eating a bunch of crap, starts to what? Look and feel like crap! How does one get rid of all that ickiness all quick like? Vomit it out of them of course! Eat what's tasty, then purge what they don't want, out. And what don't they want? Fat! Or to feel fat, or to look like they're getting fat. Don't get me wrong I was not obsessed about my looks. You laugh. It's true. It happened moment by moment...In the early stages of my life we did with what we could with the little funds that came into our home. I remember going to grade school with a piece of bread slathered with jam and nothing else. I had a hard enough time eating jam at all, to the point of vomiting, (if we pause for a moment, do we know how much sugar is in Jam and do we know what breads turn in to when consumed into our bodies? Yeah...We'll come back to that thought) by this time I ended up throwing out all my lunches. After lunches went, it was easy to let things slide with other meals. About when I hit jr high we had a little something more to pay with for our meals at school. A Dr. Pepper and a snickers ended up being my main staples for lunches and sometimes even for breakfast. How are you not getting sick with the lack of nutrition here? Answer: I was sick, All. The. Time. So what do you think my family tried next? You could imagine their desperation at this point..yep! They sought outside help. Physiological help. Do you think it worked? Have you heard of a little thing called reverse psychology? You could imagine, we were not part of the physiological community for very long. In Fact, time number two..out the door baby! So, then what happened you ask? Life moved on in the best way we knew how to live it. I moved out of my parents home and then a little later in life found me a man. We ate out everywhere! You would be proud, it all stayed down for the most part. What came next was kind of a no brainer.....Up until this time I was not cozy with the medical community but had some medical concerns I was not addressing. I had been sick fairly often with bronchial junk, later being diagnosed with acute bronchitis. Pneumonia and Strep became a regular part of my life. And my under active thyroid I was not addressing had become quite a big issue...does it get better than this? You ask. This is so depressing....Give us some good news! I answer you, The best is yet to come!! **Wink **Wink This is a journey of much light.
